CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – State Del. Doug Reynolds has announced a bid for West Virginia attorney general.

The Cabell County Democrat made his announcement Tuesday at the state Capitol. He joins Charleston Democrat David Higgins in the May primary.

Republican Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is seeking a second four-year term.

An attorney and entrepreneur, Reynolds was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2006.

In a news release, Reynolds said the state needs an attorney general who will fight the growing drug epidemic and work to rebuild the office’s Consumer Protection Division.

As of last spring, Morrisey had $546,000 in his pre-candidacy account, including $250,000 he personally loaned the campaign.
