State Mulls Pay Increase For Ohio’s School Superintendent
< < Back toCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – State school board members and legislative leaders are trying to determine how much they should pay Ohio’s school superintendent as the search begins to fill that position.
The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports the current salary of $195,000 for Ohio’s top school official is less than what some local school districts pay their superintendents.
Officials hope to make a decision by next month on how much to offer the person who replaces retired Superintendent Richard Ross.
State Rep. Andrew Brenner says $1 million for a superintendent shouldn’t be left out of the discussion. The Republican says the larger salary for making improvements across the state could make sense.
Other legislators and board members are not suggesting a salary that high, but agree the compensation package should be improved.
