Xavier and Duquesne:

The Ohio University swimming and diving team is looking to continue its winning streak when it faces three teams in two meets this weekend.

The Bobcats will start the weekend with a double dual meet against Xavier University and Duquesne University. This will be the first time the Bobcats have faced either team in several seasons. The Bobcats last swam against Duquesne during the 2010-2011 season when they beat the Dukes 142-98, and the last Bobcat/Musketeer matchup during the 2013-2014 season resulted in another Bobcat victory, 127-74.

The Bobcats hold top times in seven events, including the 50 free, 1000 free, 100 and 200 backstroke, and 100 and 200 butterfly. The Musketeers and Dukes will provide tough competition, especially in the 200 IM and 200 medley relay. The closest race is expected to be the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The meet will begin Friday at 5 p.m. at Duquesne University’s Towers Pool.

Buffalo:

Ohio University’s ranking in the MAC may be challenged when it takes on the University at Buffalo Bulls on Saturday. The Bobcats are ranked second in the MAC and are followed closely behind by the Bulls, who are ranked third.

The last matchup between the Bobcats and Bulls was during the 2015 MAC Championship meet when the Bobcats took sixth place behind the Bulls’ fourth place finish.

The Bulls hold top times in eight of the fourteen swimming events by just fractions of a second, and both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events are expected to be close races.

Saturday’s meet at the Alumni Arena at University at Buffalo will start at 1 p.m.
