Public schools are closed in 53 of West Virginia’s 55 counties on Monday.
The exceptions are in the Northern Panhandle where Brooke and Hancock counties are having classes.
School was out in many counties for much of last week due to snowy weather and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
West Virginia University also has canceled classes on Monday. Vice President of Administration and Finance Narvel Weese says the Morgantown campus and surrounding area remains covered by up to 2 feet of snow. He says roads, parking lots and sidewalks still need to be cleared.
WVU also called off classes Monday at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery and Potomac State College in Keyser.
