Ohio Community-Police Board Continues Work On Standards
< < Back toCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A law enforcement relations board created by Gov. John Kasich is continuing its work developing statewide standards for police use of deadly force, body cameras and other policies.
The Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board planned its first meeting of the year Tuesday in Columbus.
Last year, the board adopted Ohio’s first statewide standards for the use of deadly force. It said last week that Ohio sheriffs and police chiefs will help law enforcement agencies statewide comply with the standards.
In October, the board said it would develop camera standards involving privacy, operations, public records and other issues.
Kasich created the panel after a series of fatal police shootings, including the 2014 death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland.
