Trimble Dominates Federal Hocking
< < Back toIt was a tough night for Federal Hocking after losing 73-43 against Trimble but that didn’t stop the Lancers from giving it their all.
“We talked a lot about trusting their natural abilities,” Federal Hocking coach Jamie Justice said. “They played hard”.
Trimble led in all 4 quarters of the game and used team work to take home the win. Randy Hixon and Bryce Guthrie were the two leading scoring players for the team but the coach saw more than the duo doing work tonight.
“We wanted to play both end the floor and transition from defense to offense in a quick manner and that’s exactly what we did,” Trimble’s assistant coach Ruben Kittle said.
Trimble wasn’t the only one that had players stand out tonight. Federal Hocking’s A.J. Cobb scored 19 points against Trimble, eight of those being in the first half of the game.
“A.J. is kind of the engine that makes things go,” Justice said. “Another player that has stepped up is sophomore Michael Johns who has started the last two games, we expect big things from him”.
Federal Hocking played a hard game but it just wasn’t enough going against Trimble’s offense and defense. Federal Hocking had 19 turnovers at half time but quickly changed that in the 2nd half of the game ending with only 4 turnovers.
Hixon and Guthrie dominated in the game ,however, head coach Howie Caldwell wanted to prepare JV players for upcoming games by taking their starters out.
“Even at the end of the game we prefer to extend the lead and prepare our players for the next game,” Kittle stated. “even if the other coach still has their starters in we try to use that time to give our other players time on the court.”
Trimble will look to continue its track to another TVC-Hocking title by traveling to South Gallia tomorrow, and Federal Hocking will play at home on February, 9th against Eastern.
