TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – A federal judge in Ohio won’t allow home detention for a man accused of helping raise money for a former al-Qaida leader.

The judge turned down the request Thursday after Ibrahim Mohammad asked earlier in the week to be released from jail as he awaits trial on charges of supporting terrorism.

He’s one of four men with Ohio ties accused of sending money to an al-Qaida leader who was linked to planning attacks against American interests before being killed in a drone strike.

The judge says Mohammad’s proposal to stay with his wife and father-in-law in Toledo while on electronic monitoring wasn’t enough to guarantee he’d show up for trial.

Mohammad was living near Dallas, Texas, when he was charged last fall.
