Jobless Rate Falls in 59 Kentucky Counties in January 2016
< < Back to jobless-rate-falls-in-59-kentucky-counties-in-january-2016FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Unemployment rates fell in 59 of Kentucky’s 120 counties between January 2015 and January 2016.
The state Office of Employment and Training said Thursday that the jobless rate rose in 53 counties and stayed the same in eight other counties during that span.
The agency says Woodford County had the state’s lowest jobless rate at 3.7 percent.
Fayette and Oldham counties were next at 4.2 percent each. Shelby County was next at 4.4 percent, followed by Scott and Spencer counties at 4.6 percent each.
Magoffin County had the state’s highest unemployment rate at 21 percent.
It was followed by Elliott County at 14 percent and Wolfe County at 13.7 percent. Next were Carter County at 13.6 percent and Harlan County at 13.5.
