AG: Rape Kits Must Be Submitted for DNA Testing by Next Week
< < Back toCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Attorney General’s office says state law-enforcement agencies have until Wednesday to send in old rape test kits.
Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office says the tests that include DNA obtained from sexual assault victims must be submitted by next week under a law that took effect last year.
DeWine says the testing has helped identify hundreds of alleged attackers.
He launched the initiative in 2011 to check previously untested kits for evidence. Authorities from more than 250 law enforcement agencies have submitted more than 12,000 rape kits.
