A senior administrator with Ohio University is changing his role within the university, according to President Roderick McDavis.

Stephen Golding, Vice President for Finance and Administration is now the Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives as of April 1, the president said in a statement to the university community.

“This position was created to facilitate the design and implementation of the OHIO for Ohio initiative in collaboration with the Office of the President and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost,” McDavis wrote in the statement. “He also will represent Ohio University and the Office of the President on the Athens County Economic Development Commission as well as serve as the Chief Executive Officer overseeing the Dublin Campus.”

The move was part of a “previously established succession plan” in which Senior Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration, Deborah Shaffer, will take Golding’s previous position. She will also become the treasurer for the OU Board of Trustees and the Ohio University Foundation beginning July 1.

The transition also comes as McDavis plans his departure from the presidency in 2017, and Board of Trustee Chair Sandra Anderson ends her term on the board. Vice-Chair David Wolfort will be taking over for Anderson.
