Wesley Lowery, Washington Post staff writer and E.W. Scripps School of Journalism alumnus (2012), was part of a team that was awarded a Pulitzer Prize Monday Afternoon in the national reporting category. The prizes are considered newspaper journalism’s highest honor.

The project collected data on police shootings into a database and yielded new insights into the deadly force by the nation’s police officers. According to The Washington Post, the project was one of the largest in the newsroom’s history and involved more than 70 journalists from the paper’s national, investigative, metro, video, photo and graphics departments.

The database has yielded a look at similarities and other statistical data and can be found at this link.
