Athens Police are looking for one of two people indicted in connection with the shooting death of a man at the River Park apartment complex.

The Athens County Prosecutor’s Office says Megnesha Mnat, 21, and Mikia Geberezgiahier, 19, were indicted by a grand jury earlier this week.  The prosecutor’s office says Geberezgiahier, who was picked up on a warrant, is currently being held in Washington D.C. fighting extradition. The whereabouts of Mnat are not known.

The grand jury indicted Mnat for failing to disclose information and hiding or destroying evidence related to the investigation into Markel Morrison’s death. Geberezgiahier was indicted for alleged crimes discovered during the investigation but not directly related to Morrison’s death.

Both men were associates of John Michael Fults-Ganey, who was sentenced to prison for his role in the death of Morrison. On May 26th, Fults-Ganey drove Morrison, 22, to the River Park complex so he could settle a drug debt. A resident of an apartment shot Morrison twice while he attempted to break into it.

Anyone with information on Mnat’s location can call the Athens Police Department at 740-592-3315.
