Unemployment Rates Down In West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Unemployment rates dropped in 54 of West Virginia’s 55 counties in July.

WorkForce West Virginia says the unemployment rate rose in Greenbrier County.

Jefferson County’s 3.1 percent unemployment rate was the lowest in the state, followed by Pendleton County at 3.4 percent and Berkeley County at 3.5 percent.

McDowell County had the highest unemployment rate at 12.5 percent. Mingo was next at 11.7 percent and Logan was at 10 percent.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell three-tenths of a percentage point in July to 5.7 percent.
