An investigation led to the discovery of more than 100 marijuana plants Monday in Stewart and the arrest of resident of the home.
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a search warrant on two residences at 19933 Felton Road, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
“The search warrant obtained was in reference to a marijuana grow operation in which approximately 150 marijuana plants were located both insides and outside of the residences,” the release stated.
Chaz McComas, 33, of Stewart, was arrested and taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on the charges of manufacturing of a controlled substance and marijuana cultivation, both felony charges. Further charges are also pending, Smith stated in the release.
The estimated value of the plants was not available, according to Sheriff Rodney Smith.
Firearms were also seized as a result of the investigation.
McComas is being held at the jail on $10,000 bond, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 7.
