Southern shut down its historic 40-year losing drought to Wahama last year, and the Tornadoes did it again tonight scoring five times in the first half to take a great 46-8 win over the Falcons.

It was the Jaylen Blanks Show tonight who had 100 yards and two touchdowns in just the first quarter for Southern. He started it off with a 38-yard touchdown in the middle of the first and followed it with another to end the first quarter 13-0.

But he wasn’t done yet.

Blanks returned Wahama’s punt to the 36-yard line and then succeeded to go 72 yards with it this time, scoring his third touchdown of the night with just a couple minutes left in the second. Blanks and his lightning speed ended the half with 204 total yards.

Ryan McCobe also contributed with a score early in the second, and so did Riley Roush with a 37-yard touchdown just seven seconds left in the half to put the tornadoes up 32-0.

Southern’s domination in the first half was all it took for them to seal the deal and take the win tonight. A late touchdown by Wahama’s Wyatt Edwards with six minutes to go in the fourth would be the only score of the night for the Falcons and not nearly enough to keep up with Southern, who dominated in all aspects of the game.

It was rare the Falcons were able to get even close to the end zone, failing to execute most all their drives and being forced to punt the ball away.

Southern (3-0) will look for its fourth win of the season when it takes on Miller next Friday. Wahama (1-2) will attempt to bounce back from its second straight loss as it takes on Belpre next Friday. Kickoff for both games are at 7:30 p.m.
