Ohio Baseball Hosts Wren Fest
< < Back to ohio-baseball-hosts-wren-festThe 2017 Ohio Bobcat baseball team was on display at Bob Wren Stadium in the annual Black vs. Green scrimmage at Wren Fest.
The Green team picked up the 8-5 over the Black team.
With a crowd full of students, scouts and fans young and old, coach Rob Smith really enjoys the biggest event of the fall.
“The guys enjoy it, and they really appreciate being able to showcase their program. Now, there’s people in the stands, there’s promotions on the field, and it gives them a little bit extra incentive to go out and play hard and make a quality day of it. Our guys really enjoy it, and I know I certainly enjoy being a part of it, too.”
The Bobcats return 26 players from last years’ roster.
Headlining the returning players are senior infielder Ty Black, senior pitcher Jake Rudnicki and sophomore infielder/catcher Rudy Rott.
Rott was awarded the 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Ohio also welcomes 11 new faces to the program this year.
The Bobcats complete their fall schedule with the Alumni game October 1st, and two scrimmages vs Bellarmine University on October 8th and University of Rio Grande on October 9th.
