The Lady Marauders of Meigs battled the Southern Lady Tornadoes to a 49-34 victory Thursday night.

The Lady Marauders started off strong offensively making three consecutive shots to begin the game. Offense slowed, though, and the first quarter ended with Meigs ahead 9-6.

Meigs sophomore Kassidy Betzing sparked a shooting spree in the second quarter that led a 14-1 run and the Marauders never relinquished the lead.

All was not bad for the Lady Tornadoes, however.  Southern’s Faith Teaford was held scoreless in the first half, but came out of the locker room snagging eight rebounds and scoring 13 points for the Tornados the rest of the game.

Although Southern managed to keep up for some time, Meigs’ aggressive playing tactics made them come out on top with a final score of 49-34.

Meigs (1-0) will next take on Point Pleasant Dec. 8th.  Southern (0-1) will play Eastern Pike Dec. 3rd.
