Both the Lions and the Wildcats were sharp but fast paced in the first half. The coaches let the game ride out and left most of their timeouts unused in the half. Combine that with few fouls and the pace was tiring. That changed in the second half.

Play slowed heavily in the second half to Fairfield’s favor.
Fairfield got to within five after Waterford started to get into some foul troubles. Riley Burns, though, got his first and only points for Waterford at the right time. Burns nailed a jumper just before the fourth quarter to give Waterford a 45-38 lead.
Waterford hovered around a 10-point lead for the rest of the game and ended with an 11-point win.
The three-headed monster of Tyler McCutcheon, Jordan Welch and Isaac Huffman dominated and combined for 46 of Waterford’s points. Welch put in for 18 points, Huffman had 16 and McCutcheon added 12 points.
Waterford advances to the District Final for the second consecutive season. The Wildcats will see Eastern Pike at the Convocation Center on Saturday.
