Bobcats Finish Third at UNC-Wilmington Seahawk Invitational

The Ohio Bobcats track and field team competed this weekend at UNC-Wilmington Seahawk invitational, racing and throwing their way to a third place finish.

Junior Jordan Porter recorded the first event win for the Bobcats, finishing first in the shot put with a throw of 14.96 meters. Twenty-three other cats placed in the top 10 for the weekend. In field, along with shot put, the Bobcats placed top 10 in high jump, long jump, hammer throw, discus and triple jump.

Senior Taylor Smith finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m. Olivia Mayfield placed fifth in the long jump coming in at 5.31m. Four Ohio athletes finished top 10 in the hammer throw. Emma Ryan, Gaza Odunaiya, Cassidy Cleland and Jordan Porter all finished third, sixth, eighth and ninth with times distances of 50.63m, 48.70m, 46.05m and 45.84 respectively. In discus, Emma Ryan placed third with a throw of 45.47. In triple jump Keilah Causey finished eighth with a jump of 10.63m.

In running events, Ohio athletes placed in the top 10 in the 5k, 4×100 relay, 400-meter dash and the 100 meter hurdles. In the 5k, freshman Tiffany Hill finished fourth with a time of 18:55.83 and freshman Delaney Geitgey came in ninth with a time of 19:35.89. The 4×100 team consisting of sophomore Thelma Agyekum, senior Olivia Mayfield, sophomore Courtney Guiley and senior Tajah Smith finished sixth with a time of 48.81 seconds. In the 400-meter dash freshman Marissa Handel finished fifth with a time of 1:00.00 and junior Kaitlyn Logan finished tenth with a time of 1:00.80. In the 100 meter hurdles Kristin Winkel came in third with a time 15.03 seconds.

Next, the Bobcats travel to High Point University for the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-Off.
