Ohio Valley Summer Theater’s 10th annual Youth Camp in collaboration with Columbus Area Theatre Company, CATCO, has opened enrollment for youth entering 2nd to 12 grades. The camp which runs from June 5 to 23 features two professional workshops with deep Athens roots..

Campers will have an opportunity to work with a professional clown, improv with an expert, and try their hand at writing and performing sketch comedy with guidance from college sketch groups. For those wanting to specialize in technical aspects of theater, there is a track for them as well. The camp will culminate in free public performances on June 23.

Our featured artist presenters represent homegrown professionals who will help campers realize their potential no matter where they are from. “Drew the Fool” is our visiting clown. Born and raised in Athens, Drew Richardson is a graduate of Athens High School and has gone one to be an international sensation. You can see on his website www.dramaticfool.com.

Improv artist and national independent film director and performer Yang Miller will lead us in improv sessions. He too is a product of Athens HS and now is most often seen hanging out at his place of work, the Athena Theater. The week before camp Yang will be in Los Angelos for the opening of his latest project.

Other camp guests will include members of Ohio University and Middlebury College Comedy Sketch groups.

“The opportunity for campers to have this level of professional guidance and feedback, and interraction with CATCO staff is phenomenal! I can’t wait for this once in a lifetime opportunity.” says Carol Patterson, Camp Director.

OVST Youth Theater Camp runs from June 5-23 Monday-Friday. For more information visit www.ovst.org or call 740 541-3728.
