FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – An education survey aimed at assessing working conditions has gotten an overwhelming response in Kentucky.

The state’s Department of Education says more than 41,400 school-based certified educators completed the 2017 Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning Kentucky Survey.

Nearly 91 percent of eligible educators completed it.

Kentucky education officials say that surpasses the 2015 response rate of 89.3 percent and has set a national record among states that administer the survey.

The survey gathers information from teachers, counselors, principals and other administrators. It includes questions on the adequacy of facilities, school leadership, community support, student conduct, professional development, mentoring services and student learning.

Initial results will be released next month.

The half-hour, web-based survey is voluntary and anonymous. This is the fourth time Kentucky educators have taken the survey since 2011.
