LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A former assistant U.S. attorney in Kentucky has been chosen by President Donald Trump to be a U.S. District Court judge.

The White House said Wednesday that Trump intends to nominate Claria Horn Boom to the bench for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.

Horn Boom is a partner in the Lexington office of Frost Brown Todd LLC. She was an assistant U.S. attorney in Kentucky and previously practiced law in Atlanta.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky in a news release praised the choice and said Horn Boom has “strong ties” in Kentucky that will benefit her on the federal bench.

Horn Boom received her undergraduate degree from Transylvania University and her law degree from Vanderbilt University.
