Zanesville Community Theatre Closes Out Season With ‘Blithe Spirit’

The comedy Blithe Spirit will finish out the season for the Zanesville Community Theatre this weekend and next. Written by Noel Coward, the play takes place in the early ’40s and is often revived by local and national companies. The ZCT production opens Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m.. It will also run the following weekend on July 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. There will also be two matinees on Sunday, July 16 and July 23, both at 2:30 p.m.

Blithe Spirit is the story of a novelist, Charles Condomine, played for ZCT by Jared Gantzer. He and his second wife, Ruth, played by Jillian Von Gunten, have planned to have a séance and have invited another couple to join them. Dr George Bradman and his wife, Violet, are being played by Eric Blake and Rebecca Wagstaff. Amy Underwood is playing the eccentric Madame Arcati, invited as the medium for the evening. The cast is rounded out with Sarah Gantzer, playing Elvira, the first Mrs. Condomine and Cary Underwood as the overly enthusiastic maid, Edith.
