Lady Tomcats Pounce on Lady Rebels and Advance to Sectional Championship
< < Back toStakes were high as South Gallia traveled to Trimble to battle for the sectional finalist position. The battle, however, would not keep you on the edge of your seat. The ladies fought, but neither seemed to really want the win. The girls were lazy on the floor, lacking in any outstanding plays throughout each set.
The first set, both teams were ready to go in during the warm-up, but once started, they were flat. Trimble eventually put some heart into it, winning the set 25-14. The South Gallia Lady Rebels were lacking momentum, unable to get underneath the ball, and Trimble took advantage. Not only were they staying against the net defensively, the Lady Tomcats placed the ball in all the right places in Lady Rebel territory keeping them from getting to it before receiving the point.
The Lady Tomcats seemed to have little motivation, letting the Lady Rebels catch them multiple times in the second set, even allowing them to take the lead for the first time in the match. Taya Lackey hyped up her team to get them going, pulling out the win of the second set at 25-16.
Both teams seemed to struggle a little in the final set, but the Lady Rebels could not pull it together in the end, losing 25-11. Even with senior Kimberly Williams sitting out for the second and third set, the Lady Tomcats were able to stick together as a team and push to the finish line. Trimble took down South Gallia in three set.
The Lady Tomcats will continue their playoff run as they take on close-knit rival, the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers. This will be the third interaction between these two teams this season, with Federal Hocking winning both previous matches. The teams are ready to battle it out for sectional champs this Thursday October 19th at 6:00 pm.
