The Meigs Lady Marauders (8-7, 4-3 TVC-Ohio) were firing from all cylinders as they hosted the Athens Lady Bulldogs (2-14, 1-7 TVC-Ohio) and ran away with a win, 61-40.

Kassidy Betzing led all scorers with 16 points and added in six rebounds.

Becca Pullins scored 14 points, 12 of them coming from behind the three-point line.

The Lady Bulldogs attempted to stop Meigs’ potent offense by changing to a full court press in the second half.

Unfortunately for Athens, the switch did not change the impact of Betzing’s ability to push the ball up the court. Madison Fields was able to get open to initiate the offense then passing it off to Betzing going up the court.

Betzing would get passed half-court and her ability to find the open scorer, such as Pullins or Marissa Noble, helped lead the Lady Marauders past Athens.

As for Athens, the offense was struggling, as they could not find the bottom of the bucket on many possessions. Kaylee Stewart and Laura Manderick scored a combined 19 points and contributed on the boards with 11 rebounds.

As a team, they shot 42% on 9/21 from within the two-point line and made 7 three-pointers, but it was not enough.

Paulins has cemented herself as a prominent scorer in the TVC-Ohio and with the help of Noble, Fields, Maddie Hendricks, and Betzing. The Meigs Marauders offense has increased productivity, is efficient while doing it, and is finding their stride as they are closing down on the regular season.

Up next for the Lady Marauders is a two-game road trip and they will face off against opposites of the TVC-Ohio.

They will play against the River Valley Lady Vikings (0-11, 0-5 TVC-Ohio) and then will then face off against the red-hot Vinton County Lady Vikings (13-0, 7-0 TVC-Ohio).
