The Lady Spartans collect another victory over the Lady Marauders with a final score of 49-36. Both teams ran a tough defense but it was the Lady Spartans that executed plays and got the win.

Like we’ve seen in the past, the Lady Spartans had a slow start.

Midway through quarter one, they got into foul trouble but they were still able to out-score the Lady Marauders 10-15.

Throughout the night, Alexander head coach Jeff Grinstead was encouraging his team to take care of the basketball and just play their game. With only a few miscommunication hiccups, they executed that game plan well and forced 13 Lady Marauder turnovers.

Following up on scoring her 1,000th point in Monday’s game against Wellston, it was no shock that Rachel Richardson came out as the lead scorer for tonight’s game with 17 points – including a buzzer beater layup to end the first half.

Kena Rice picked up a few fouls in the first half which earned her a seat on the bench for a couple minutes, but she came back out in quarter three playing disciplined and smart, leaving her with 11 points and 8 boards.

Kassidy Betzing didn’t score at all in the first half but turned out being the top scorer for the Lady Marauders tonight with nine points.

In the fourth quarter, Mallory Rankin and Rachel Richardson swished back-to-back threes that solidified their lead.

After that, both Coach Grinstead and Coach Jarrod Kasun subbed out majority of their starters for some of their reserve players to finish out the last two minutes.

We’ll see the Lady Spartans return to their home court facing the Athens Lady Bulldogs on Monday.
