COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Documents show the Ohio House speaker who resigned amid an FBI inquiry surrounding his activities spent more than $43,000 on travel expenses last year.

The financial disclosure form for ex-GOP Speaker Cliff Rosenberger released Tuesday shows he was reimbursed about $13,000 by his campaign committee and about $11,000 by the campaign arm of Ohio House Republicans.

The filing shows Columbus 20/20, central Ohio’s economic development organization, also reimbursed him for about $11,000.

The 37-year-old Republican from Clarksville has said that he believes his actions as speaker were “ethical and lawful” and that he’s hired an attorney as a precaution.

Republican House members are voting Tuesday on their pick for speaker for the rest of the year. The full, GOP-dominated House is expected to vote on the choice Wednesday.
