The Southern Hills Arts Council (SHAC) proudly presents “The Markay Speakeasy,” an evening celebrating the arts on Saturday, May 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with events starting at 7 p.m.

This years event is once again being held at The Jackson Area YMCA

. There will be an assortment of food and desserts from Tuscany Cucina Italian Restaurant (included in your ticket price), a cash bar for brew from Sixth Sense Brewery, wine and ’20s themed cocktails.

SHAC is excited to announce the entertainment for this year’s event, The Whirlybirds! The Whirlybirds are a Columbus-based band, playing a mix of New Orleans-style Dixieland and pre-WWII era jazz while still incorporating more modern elements of jazz, pop, soul, and funk.  The result is a unique arrangement of original “Swang” music (as well as standards and covers) designed to engage and entertain, and make you want to “swang”!

The event will feature the popular Jewelry Chest sponsored by AL Terry Jewelry, a live art auction, a silent auction and the traditional “Match Packs” and maybe a few more surprises.

Thank you to our Bee’s Knees sponsors, Bellisio Foods, Total Media Jackson County Broadcasting, SpeysideBourbon Cooperage, AL Terry Jewelry, and Nea S. Henry, Agent, Appalachia Realty.

Join SHAC on the 19 at the drum (YMCA). It will cost ya 30 clams (dollars) each or get ya a table for all your guys and gals for 300 Cs(dollars).
