“Kindness: a Rebel” is the forthcoming June 8, 2018 release from Americana outfit River Whyless. The record is quietly rebellious, much like the group, who has been working on their craft for about six years, mostly in the lush creative hub of Ashville, North Carolina. The outfit has performed with the likes of Graham Nash, and recently appeared on the stage at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville for a showcase of performances curated by NPR’s Bob Boilen in April.

WOUB’s Emily Votaw spoke to Halli Anderson, a vocalist and violinist for the outfit, about the new record, aching to meet the great Michael Hurley, and performing at the 2018 Nelsonville Music Festival on Sunday, June 3. Tickets to the festival are available now on nelsonvillefest.org.
