Wow! 2018 has come and gone, and it’s about time we reflect on our favorite sounds of the past year. Leading up through the end of the year, WOUB Culture will be spotlighting what various music-centric people throughout the region have been enjoying the most for the past 12 months.

Bruce Dalzell

Bruce Dalzell is an Athens based singer-songwriter.

The folkie view.

Hawktail Unless

The great Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, David Rawlings), Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers), Jordan Tice (Jordan Tice), and Dominick Leslie make up this old-timey super group. Chamber grass.

Kim Richey

She continues to write strong tunes and sing with a voice of silk.

Anaïs Mitchell

She is taking her Hadestown to Broadway. But she has been my favorite songwriter for over a decade.

Peter Mulvey

A brilliant road warrior, outstanding guitarist, and activist.

Megan Bee

Our very own. She continues to grow and write remarkable songs.

Ron Sexsmith

He’s Canadian. This song gives me hope. That’s all I need.

Danny Schmidt

Austin’s son and conscience.

Anna Tivel

Portland storyteller who has looked into my dreams and written of them.

Albert Rouzie

He writes of cigar smoking and terrorist monkeys in speedboats. What more do you need?

Sam Baker

Texas mystic with a history that will make you cry.

Carrie Elkin

A voice that comes from a place deep within.

I’m With Her

Folk/bluegrass super group. When they sing I weep.
