Four Bobcats Qualify for NCAA Wrestling Championships

Four Ohio wrestlers will compete in the NCAA Championships on March 21st. Cameron Kelly (141) and Zack Parker (HWT) earned automatic bids at the Mid-American Conference Championships this past weekend. Tuesday, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee gave both Mario Guillen (133) and Zac Carson (157) at-large bids for the tournament.

Cameron Kelly locked in a spot for nationals when he placed 3rd at the MAC Championships in the 144-pound bracket. This is will be the third appearance for Kelly at the national tournament. At 285 pounds, Zack Parker earned an automatic bid when he challenged a match for the last allocated spot in the MAC Championships. He won the match for fourth place. Parker qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2017

Mario Guillen will make his first NCAA tournament appearance after being awarded an at-large bid. Guillen finished fourth at 133 pounds at the MAC Championships, which was one spot away from an automatic bid. The committee also gave 157-pounder Zac Carson an at-large bid. Carson placed 6th, also one place away from an automatic bid, at the MAC Championships. This will be Carson’s second time at the national championships. He competed last year while he was a part of Eastern Michigan’s team.

The NCAA Championships will be held in Pittsburgh, PA March 21st- 23rd.
