The Bobcats did not come back strong in the NCAA Championships second session on Thursday. All of the wrestlers lost their match, and three of them are out of the tournament.

Zack Parker wrestled in a consolation pigtail at the beginning of the session. The heavyweight lost to Jacob Avon (Purdue) 4-3. For his second NCAA appearance, Parker went 0-2. This also was Parker’s last match as a Bobcat.

“I’m super proud of what Zack’s accomplished here. Unfortunately for him the last two year he’s just hasn’t been healthy for over half the year,” said Head Coach Joel Greenlee.

While Cameron Kelly also lost, he did show improvement. The 141-pounder only lost 10-8 to returning All-American and MAC Champion, Jaydin Eierman. The last time the two wrestled, Eierman pinned Kelly.

“Cam Kelly, I think, is wrestling better than he ever has,” said Greenlee. “I don’t know if he lost that last match, or just ran out of time.”

Mario Guillen and Zac Carson both lost their matches in the first consolation round and went 0-2. Guillen was pinned by Codi Russell (Appalachian State) after getting caught in a cradle. At 157 pounds, Zac Carson lost 10- 8 to Dan Reed (Columbia).

Cameron Kelly will continue to wrestle-back in Day 2 Session 3, which is Friday at 11 a.m.
