Ohio University Names New Interim LGBT Center Director After Failed Search

Ohio University is naming a new interim director for the school’s LGBT Center after a national search failed to secure a new permanent director.
The university announced Micah McCarey would be the new interim director starting May 13, according to an email sent out late Tuesday.
McCarey is currently an assistant director in Housing and Residence Life. He replaces Tyrone Carr, who has served as interim director since the firing of the LGBT Center’s former director, delfin baustista earlier this year.
The university says it will renew the search for a new director in the fall. WOUB News has learned the university offered the position to a candidate but was ultimately turned down. The university declined to comment when asked for information on why the candidate declined the offer.
