This Week On Radio Free Athens: May 25, 2019

Every weekend local music geeks unite to provide the region with 11 hours of creatively curated tunes on WOUB 1340AM, an endeavor that is known commonly as Radio Free Athens! Typically the program runs from 9 a.m. EST to 8 p.m. EST every Saturday, and can also be heard through this link.

Here is a list of the DJs slated to play on Saturday, May 25:

9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – R@T
12 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Out of the Afternoon with Art Cromwell
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – DJ Grumpy Grandma
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Michael T.

From DJ Grumpy Grandma, 3 p.m. EDT to 6 p.m. EDT

Your faithful DJ is headed on a pilgrimage to NYC after Memorial Day to see one of the few musicians that she refers to as “one of her boys,” the great Japanese electronic artist (and portion of the only band as important as The Beatles, Yellow Magic Orchestra,) Haruomi Hosono. Wish her luck on her long, long drive to the Big Apple alongside her brother and fraternal twin! Tune in 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, though, to hear an awful lot of Hosono, as well as a few other tricks she has up her sleeve, because she has definitely, definitely, totally visited the spot where her records are currently in storage so she totally has different records than she had for her last show. For sure she does. At 6 p.m. she has West Virginia’s Flat Tracker in the studio for a live performance, so let’s hope it doesn’t interfere with Michael T.’s show!
