The Other Years brought a timeless performance from Louisville, KY, to the Gladden House — one embellished with banjo, fiddle, and guitar. With roots in the regional music scene, they were welcomed by a collection of fans both old and new.

After meeting as college roommates at the University of Louisville and singing together for the past 10 years, perhaps it is no surprise that Anna Krippenstapel and Heather Summers’ voices elegantly band as one. Their combination of old-time and traditional Appalachian music with engaging storytelling has brought them a growing fanbase. Notably they have been opening dates for the likes of Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Joan Shelley in the last year.

The Other Years sandwiched their Gladden House performance with two songs off of their self-titled album (No Quarter Records), beginning with “Talkeetna,” followed by a cover of beloved NMF regular Michael Hurley’s “Wildegeeses,” and ending with another The Other Years original, “White Marble.”
