GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio (WOUB) — The #8 West Muskingum Tornadoes (9-2; 4-1 MVL-Small) traveled to face the #1 Indian Valley Braves (9-0; 5-0 IVC-South) in a Region 15 Quarterfinal matchup.
In the first quarter, the Braves would strike first as quarterback Ryker Williams take it in himself, and the Braves would jump out to a 7-0 lead. On the ensuing Tornado drive, Grady Dollings would have a good punt return, taking it into Indian Valley territory.
But the Braves defense would step up, and Brett O’Connor gave the ball back to Indian Valley with an interception. And they would cash in as Reese St Clair would have a rushing touchdown of his own from 20 yards out, and the Braves would double their lead, 14-0.
On the next West M drive, they would not make the same mistake from the one before, as they drove down the field and Logan Serdy took it in on fourth and goal, to put the Tornadoes on the board, 14-7. But the Braves would end up dominating the rest of the half, extending their lead 27-7.
However, Logan Serdy would strike again with a powerful rushing touchdown to cut into the lead, 27-14 going into halftime. The momentum would roll in the second half as Grady Dollings would go 50 yards to the endzone to get the Tornadoes within a score. 27-21
And in the 4th, they would take the lead with a blocked punt. West Muskingum came back 20 points down to take the lead, 28-27. But Indian Valley would answer late as after a forced fumble, Ryker Williams would score his third rushing touchdown of the night, and after a two point conversion, the Braves retook the lead, 35-28.
And the Indian Valley defense would hold strong at the end, as the Braves survive and advance to the semi-final, with the final score of 35-28. The West Muskingum Tornadoes end their season with a record of 9-3, while the Indian Valley Braves stay undefeated at 10-0, and move on to face Claymont.
