Keeley Hawes (Upstairs Downstairs) stars as an intrepid widow who decamps from dreary England to a sun-dappled Greek island with her four recalcitrant children, ages 11 to 21, on this adaptation of Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals and its two sequels.
Alongside Hawes’ matriarch Louisa Durrell are eldest son, Larry (Josh O’Connor), a budding writer on his way to becoming the famous novelist Lawrence Durrell; son number two, Leslie (Callum Woodhouse), an impulsive firearms enthusiast; daughter Margo (Daisy Waterstone), sixteen and man-crazy; and eleven-year-old Gerry (Milo Parker), who only has eyes for wildlife and grew up to be a world-renowned naturalist.
Season 4: Episode 1
In the Season 4 premiere, Louisa opens a new boarding house, Gerry announces his plans to open his own zoo, and Margo struggles to find beauty clients.
Season 4: Episode 2
Leslie ponders the possibility of fatherhood. Margo moves in with Theo, and Louisa is on the receiving end of some slightly confused romantic advances.
Season 4: Episode 3
Louisa meets Spiros’ wife for the first time and invites her to join the family on a trip, but not all goes according to plan.
Season 4: Episode 4
Louisa worries about the villa’s reputation, but Spiros’s presence delights her. Margo bonds with Maud, while Gerry realizes he has feelings for Galini.
Season 4: Episode 5
The residents of Corfu are excited at the prospect of a visit from the king of Greece, and the Durrells are keen to be part of the welcoming committee.
Season 4: Episode 6
In the series finale, just as the Durrells may have found their happy ending, the islanders realize they can no longer ignore the rumblings of war.
