The Wastemen II Radio A Sessions

The Wastemen performed three tracks off of (what they hope to be) their forthcoming full-length in WOUB’s Radio A: “Invasion of Klohn,” “Atlas,” and “The Rat.”

The trio is visceral and tuneful all at once, generating genuine garage rock that conjures up sounds reminiscent of late ’80s post-hardcore acts like The Minutemen and Meat Puppets with all the self aware oddness of early art punk like Devo and The Fall. The band plays liberally with their garbage-man image, after all, garbagemen have been a celebrated part of punk rock imagery, dating back to at least The Cramps’ blistering 1980 album Songs the Lord Taught Us.

The Wastemen are rock ‘n’ roll favorites at The Union (18 West Union St., Athens), and will perform there on Saturday, October 5 with Tomorrow Daily and Cleveland’s King Buu.
