WOUB Public Media announced that the station is joining local community organizations in a public awareness campaign to promote National Estate Planning Awareness Week, October 21 – 27, 2019.
Estate planning is one of the most overlooked areas of personal financial management. It’s been estimated that more than 120 million Americans do not have proper estate plans to protect themselves or their families in the event of sickness, accidents, or untimely death. This circumstance can cause many families unnecessary expense and financial hardship. Proper planning can help avoid these unintended consequences.
In 2008, Congress passed a resolution proclaiming the third week in October as National Estate Planning Awareness Week. “Public media has long served as an advocate for financial literacy. Estate planning is a critical component of the financial health of most adults,” said Mark Brewer, General Manager of WOUB.
WOUB Public Media will recognize National Estate Planning Week by providing local residents a FREE estate planning booklet. The booklet will allow the user to start organizing their financial assets and thinking through their personal goals. Any person interested in receiving this booklet may click the link.
“For more than 70 years, WOUB has provided programming and educational services to the people in south east Ohio and western West Virginia. Raising awareness about estate planning is in line with our public service and educational mission,” Brewer stated.
As a member station of both NPR and PBS, WOUB Public Media is a trusted source of news, local content and educational resources that have proven to be worthy of the time, effort and support of our users. WOUB, an administrative unit of the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University, is a non-profit, community-supported multimedia organization which provides online and broadcast services, along with non-broadcast educational services and student professional development. WOUB serves 55 counties throughout the Appalachian areas of southeastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky with its broadcast signals. WOUB Radio’s FM Network has transmitters in Athens, Chillicothe, Ironton, Zanesville and Cambridge, while WOUB AM serves the immediate Athens area. WOUB TV is made up of six television channels (WOUB HD, WOUB Classic, WOUB World, WOUB Create, WOUB Ohio and WOUB Kids) which are broadcast from two transmitters.
Through its support of public service, teaching, research and administrative missions, along with its high-quality local content and programming, WOUB enriches, enhances and expands the lives and horizons of the people in the Appalachian communities it serves, as well as Ohio University faculty, staff and students.
