ATHENS, OH — The Mid-American Conference has a new all-time wins King, and that man is Frank Solich and boy did he do it in style. Seven different Bobcats scored a touchdown against Bowling Green as Ohio scored a season-high 66 points in their blowout win over the Falcons.

“This record that comes with it — I feel really good about it,” Ohio football head coach Frank Solich said on breaking the record for most MAC wins by a coach with 111 career wins. “But a lot of people were involved in this. A lot of great players over the years that have come through Ohio that have set their tradition to be able to recruit well and win football games. The coaches have been tremendous. So tremendous coaches, tremendous athletes. If you have that combination you’re going to have a few wins.”

The players understand the magnitude of Solich’s milestone.

“It goes to show how well respected he is around here,” quarterback Nathan Rourke said.  “How proud we are to be apart of what he’s accomplished and so it was a very happy, jubilant locker room and it was fun to be apart of.”

“That’s just a really big accomplishment,” running back O’Shaan Allison said. “He’s had a lot of wins here, he’s a great coach. Everyone around the country is going to remember who he is so it’s really good for us to have a coach like that.”

One word to sum up Solich’s coaching career: grateful.

“It’s been as good as I could’ve hoped for in the coaching business in the terms of those 15 years and how it all worked,” Solich said.
