2019 Annual Athens Art Guild Holiday Shoppe Slated for Dec. 14-15
< < Back to 2019-annual-athens-art-guild-holiday-shoppe-slated-for-dec-14-15Over 40 Athens Art Guild artists selling a variety of works will set up shop in the Athens Community Center (701 East State St.) Saturday, December 14 through Sunday, December 15. Featured works will include watercolor paintings, photography, jewelry, and more.
“Shopping locally keeps our money in our own, local economy, and buying handmade items I think mean a little bit more,” said Kelly Lawrence, a member of the Athens Art Guild, and the organizer of the Athens Art Guild Holiday Shoppe. “(handmade items) last a lot longer for one thing, and there is just more of personal touch to buying something that is locally made and handmade.”
You can hear WOUB’s interview with Lawrence about the Holiday Shoppe in the link embedded above.
The shoppe will take place Saturday, December 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 15 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a raffle, the proceeds from which will benefit local art teachers. There will also be a kid’s craft booth and live music from the SATB choir and John Horne on Saturday and Celia Lewis and Gay and Bruce Dalzell on Sunday. Nelsonville’s Sunflower Bakery will be on site all weekend with food and hot beverages. This feature was engineered by Adam Rich and edited by Emily Votaw.
