Unofficial Primary 2020 Results for Athens County

Here are the unofficial results in Athens County for Ohio’s extended primary, according to the county Board of Elections. Only contested races are listed. 

 

For Democratic presidential nominee: Joseph Biden received 3,758 votes, Bernie Sanders received 1,986 votes, Elizabeth Warren received 280 votes, Tulsi Gabbard received 52 votes, Pete Buttigieg received 65 votes, Michael Bloomberg received 90 votes, Amy Klobuchar received 89 votes, Tom Steyer received 20 votes, Michael Bennet received 10 votes, Deval Patrick received 1 vote, and Andrew Yang received 28 votes (via write-in). 

For the United States House of Representatives, 15th district: Joel Newby (D) received 2,933 votes and Daniel McArthur Kilgore (D) received 1,957 votes. Steve Stivers (R) received 1,202 votes and Shelby Xavier Hunt (R) received 199 votes.

For the United States House of Representatives, 6th district (the Republican winner will face the Democratic winner in November): Shawna Roberts (D) received 152 votes. Bill Johnson (R) received 229 votes and Kenneth Morgan (R) received 42 votes. 

For Ohio State Representative, 78th district (the Republican winner will face the Democratic winner in November): Charlotte Owens (D) received 288 votes. Brian Stewart (R) received 75 votes, Bobby Mitchell (R) received 28 votes, and Aaron Adams (R) received 16 votes. 

For State Supreme Court Justice, term beginning Jan. 1, 2021: John P. O’Donnell (D) received 4,676 votes and Sharon L. Kennedy (R) received 1,413 votes.

For State Supreme Court Justice, term beginning Jan. 2, 2021: Jennifer Brunner (D) received 4,810 votes and Judi French (R) received 1,367 votes. 

Village of Albany fire protection levy renewal, 1 mill: 112 votes yes, 27 votes no. 

Athens County treasurer: Ric Wasserman (D) received 3,668 votes and Peter A. Kotses (D) received 2,249 votes. 

Village of Buchtel current expenses levy renewal, 2.5 mills: 64 votes yes, 21 votes no. 

Athens County court of common pleas judge, probate juvenile division: Zachary L. Saunders (D) received 3,122 votes and Rusty Rittenhouse (D) received 2,736 votes. Kenneth E. Ryan (R) received 1,149 votes.
