Athens County Cracking Down On Traffic Violations< < Back to
ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office announced it will crack down harder on traffic violations in June.
“Many Americans believe they won’t be ticketed if they drive within a ‘buffer zone’ above the posted speed limit. But now law enforcement will be targeting and ticketing speeding drivers,” according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
When it comes to speeding: “obey the sign or pay the fine” is the motto for the initiative.
The initiative is a collaboration with the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Ohio Traffic Safety Office and other surrounding law enforcement agencies to aggressively target drivers who are impaired, distracted or pose any other risks on the roadway.
