COOLVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – Community members came together in Coolville to celebrate Founder’s Day, a commemoration of the origins of the village.

Coolville was laid out in 1818 and officially recognized as a village by the state of Ohio in 1835.  While there is genial disagreement over which specific date Founder’s Day celebrates, most parties agree that the festival should be “a day to get together with old friends and new,” said George Gilbert of Coolville, a festival organizer and sponsor.

Founder’s Day featured adult and children’s activities alike, including the Cool Critters Outreach, a Tiny Tots Cutie Contest, a dunk tank featuring Scott Miller, the Coolville chief of police, a Cruise-In Car Show and more.
