Lancaster Find The Win Column After Defeating Olentangy Friday Night
< < Back toLANCASTER, Ohio (WOUB) – The Olentangy Braves traveled to Fulton Field to take on the Lancaster Golden Gales. Both teams started off Week 1 with a loss so it was a battle to see who would get their first victory of the season.
The game started out in a shootout with Running Back Luke Peden starting the game of with a rushing touchdown to give Lancaster the 6-0 lead. On the very next play, Olentangy’s Dubby Agudosi takes the kickoff 95 yards to the house to give the Braves a 7-6 lead.
Lancaster regained the lead later in the 1st quarter with a QB sneak by Trace Van Gundy, giving the Golden Gales a 13-7 advantage. But the next drive Olentangy answered with a 60-yard TD pass to Evan Rindlaub and the Braves were back on top 15-13.
When it looked like the Braves were gaining momentum, Gales Running Back Ajay Locke rushed for a touchdown, then later in 2nd quarter Eli Rathburn blocked a punt and returned for a TD to give Lancaster a 27-15 halftime lead.
The second half was very defensively oriented, and the only points in the half were in the 4th when Lancaster’s Van Gundy threw a TD to Evan Rindlaub to give the Gaels a 34-15 lead and that would end up being the final score.
The Gales dominated on the ground and outran the Braves 266 yards to 75 yards. Lancaster secured their first win of the season while Olentangy will have to wait another week to try and get in the win column.
