Athens Co. Adds Two Deaths Related To COVID-19, 65 New Cases For Sept. 10
< < Back to athens-co-adds-two-deaths-related-to-covid-19-65-new-cases-for-sept-10ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 63 total deaths related to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after two were added to the total Friday. The county also has now had 6,426 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 65 new cases were reported for the same day.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed the deaths and numbers on Sept. 10, 2021.
Analysis of ODH data indicates the deaths involved a person in their 50s and a person in their 70s.
According to ODH data, the cases involved 21 people 0-19, 12 people 20-29, 10 people 50-59, nine people 30-39, eight people 40-49, three people 70-79, a person 60-69 and a person 80+.
Additional cases required hospitalization involving a person in their 20s and a person in their 70s. According to the data, 236 people in Athens County have been hospitalized due to complications related to this coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
There are 945 known active cases in the county as of Friday and 5,418 recovered cases, according to ODH.
A total of 45.67% of the county has started the vaccination process and 42.53% has completed it, according to ODH.
Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.
Friday at 2 p.m., the Ohio Department of Health announced 1,285,757 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide after 9,019 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. There have been 67,955 hospitalizations and 21,154 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
