Trimble Shows No Mercy In Ferocious Bounce-Back Game Against South Gallia
< < Back toCROWN CITY, Ohio (WOUB) — The Trimble Tomcats dominated in their game last night against the South Gallia Rebels with a final score of 40-0. Trimble arrived at Crown City ready to take home a win after losing games the past two weeks, and they did not disappoint.
With COVID-19 causing the cancellation of many games, the Tomcats were pitted up against the Rebels at the last minute.
Right off the bat, Trimble starts strong in the first quarter. In only two plays, quarterback Tabor Lackey goes untouched for 40 yards into the end zone, giving Trimble the early 7-0 lead.
Extending their lead in the first quarter, running back Bryce Downs went up the sideline 36 yards — Trimble has a 14-0 lead and they’re just heating up.
On the opening play of the second quarter, Trimble scores yet again when Tabor Lackey rolls out and finds a wide-open Blake Guffey for a 15-yard score.
After a South Gallia turnover, Trimble is in good field position with another opportunity to score, and they take advantage. Lackey finds wide receiver Austin Wisor in the back of the end zone to score yet another touchdown.
Despite two tough losses in the weeks prior, Tabor Lackey shined at his full potential Friday night. He shows up yet again by contributing his third touchdown of the night with 6:45 left in the second quarter. The quarterback finds Will Freeborn to bump up the score to 33-0.
The Tomcats cap off the first half of the game with another Bryce Downs touchdown, bolting down the right sideline for a 50-yard score.
By the end of the first half, Trimble was on its way to a 40-point shutout — the Tomcats walked back to the locker room with their heads held high.
Trimble would hold that 40-0 lead for the remainder of the night, and would put an end to the team’s first losing streak since 2011. They travel to Belpre next week to build on their newfound momentum.
