Not Queer Enough? LGBT Center Validates All

ATHENS, Ohio – The LGBT Center at Ohio University has been operating since the 1990s. It has been a place of comfort, joy, and refuge for all of those years.
At long last
Bill Walsh, my dad, often told me not to be discouraged from my small hometown not having a large LGBT community and to wait until I get to college to find camaraderie.
“In your case, the high school you were in, there was a very small population of LGBT students and that’s not a whole lot of fish in the pond,” Walsh said.
After many years of waiting to feel I belong, the LGBT Center has offered me a place to be fully myself without fear of judgment. All are welcome in this place.
