The 94th death has been reported in Athens County, along with 25 new cases for Nov. 19
< < Back to the-94th-death-has-been-reported-in-athens-county-along-with-25-new-cases-for-nov-19ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 94 total deaths related to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after one was added to the total Friday. The county also has now had 8,154 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 25 new cases were the same day.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed the death and cases on Nov. 19, 2021.
Analysis of ODH data indicates the death involved a person 80 years of age or older.
According to ODH data, the cases involved seven people 0-19, seven people 20-29, four people 30-39, four people 50-59, one person 40-49, one person 60-69 and one person 80+.
There are 218 known active cases in the county as of Friday and 7,842 recovered cases, according to ODH.
A total of 49.96% of the county has started the vaccination process and 46.32% has completed it, according to ODH. There have also been 6,913 additional doses administered.
Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.
Friday at 2 p.m., the Ohio Department of Health announced 1,633,480 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide after 6,429 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. There have been 83,868 hospitalizations and 26,063 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
