Western Brown QB Drew Novak threw 2 interceptions on back-to-back drives, spotting Granville a 15-0 lead after quarter one.
The Broncos and the Blue Aces traded touchdowns up until halftime, with the final blow of the first half being dealt by the Blue Ace QB Tyler Ernsberger who hit WR Christian Hilton on a 38-yard pass play for a touchdown. Granville led at the half 29-14.
Granville would jump out to a 50-28 in the fourth quarter, but Western Brown would not go away, scoring a touchdown with 4 minutes to go, converting an onside kick, and scoring again 40 seconds later to make it a one possession game once again.
Granville RB Devon Haley had a field day, running for 274 yards and 6 touchdown, including a 47 yard touchdown to pad the Blue Ace lead back to 15.
However, Western Brown still refused to go away, answering back with a touchdown with 30 seconds left in the game, setting up another onside kick. The kick bounced off a Granville player and 15 yards backwards, creating a scramble for the ball that the Blue Aces would win, clinching their first ever regional title.
Granville’s season will continue next Friday against fellow unbeaten Hamilton Badin.
